A rare iron Main-Gauche or left hand dagger, possibly a Victorian nineteenth century copy of an earlier German or French piece, originally was circa 1660-1700. Straight fluted cross-guard with solid rounded finials. The unusual blade of heavy diamond section approx 15 inches long with three holes pierced at the forte for decoration. Iron sail-shaped guard decorated with floral motifs. Large twisted iron pommel. Grip wire is all complete. Showing some signs of genuine wear otherwise in very good condition.
