Turn off 1.25 inch barrel struck with a Birmingham proof mark. The makers name TATE engraved amid simple decoration to one side-plate. The town name LOUTH engraved to the other side-plate. RICHARD TATE had a workshop at The Corn Market & Butcher market, in Louth, Lincolnshire circa 1834-1841. Two British proof marks to the underside of the breech. Iron trigger guard. Flat sided shaped grips. Overall length 6 inches. Action in good working order. Some signs of minor wear and use otherwise in good condition. A scarce pistol. Ref 3559.
