Circa 1865-1880. The top of the frame engraved "REMINGTON'S. ILION, N.Y PATD. OCT.1.1861. NOV 15, 1864. Walnut grips. 2.5 inch barrel. Invented by William H. Elliot, this unusual Remington pistol featured a hammer that also serves as a breech block. Also known as the Saw Handle Derringer. A total of only 15,000 of these single shot pistols were produced between 1865 and 1880. Overall length 5.5 inches. Action in good working order.
