Massive double edged straight blade 30 inches in length and 2 inches wide. The blade made without a point as was often the case with executioner's swords. Unusual shaped pommel with very deep decoration to the top. The blade with two simple narrow fullers on both sides. The blade stamped with a blade-smiths mark of a large letter H. The grip retaining its original partial leather covering. The hand guard is a simple one piece twisted bar that wraps around both sides of the grip, with shaped globular terminals. Probably 16th Century. Good condition. Overall length 36 inches. This is a very rare item. Ref 3992.
