A very fine cased pair of single barrelled .36 cal percussion travelling pistols made by the world famous London Gun-makers Charles & Henry Egg. Circa 1830-1840. The decorative lock-plates engraved with the makers name C & H EGG. Charles and Henry Egg were sons of the world famous gunmaker - Joseph Egg. The 3 inch Damascus steel octagonal barrels engraved 1 Piccadilly London. The pistols have gold lined decoration to the muzzles and the breech. Finely engraved steel butt-caps and trigger guards. Steel captive swivel ramrods. Oblong silver escutcheons fitted to the finely chequered grips. The pistols contained in their correct wooden carrying case with blue baize lining, containing a paper trade label by Joseph Egg & Sons, Gun, Rifle & Pistol Manufacturers to the Royal Family. This set of pistols are complete with accessories including a steel bullet mould, wooden rod and a very fine small size copper powder flask. The pistols 7.5 inches long. Case size 11 X 6.5 inches. The pistols in extremely fine condition with much original finish. Good crisp actions. The case in good condition.
