Description

Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 8605. A very rare Napoleonic period four Barrelled Tap Action Flintlock Pistol, all steel frame made by Henshaw of London. (William Henshaw worked in London and had his workshops at 181 The Strand and at 44 New Bond Street in the period 1762-1805). The frame engraved to one side with the maker's name "W. HENSHAW" and engraved "LONDON" to the opposite side. The four screw-off cannon barrels are each engraved at the breech with a number 5-6-7-8 indicating that this pistol was originally one of a pair. Each side of the breech is stamped with very clear London proof and view marks. Slab sided walnut grips showing a few minor dings. Good working order. The action is very crisp. The pistol overall in very good condition. This is a really fine example of a good multi-barrelled pistol dating from such an important period in British history -The era of the Napoleonic wars. This maker was also at the right period in history to have supplied weapons for use in the American Revolutionary War 1775-1783. Ref 8605.
