Description

Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 9279. A fine pair of mid-18th century French silver Mounted flintlock Pistols made by Pierre Peyret of Paris. PIERRE PEYRET worked in St. Etienne outside Paris from around 1712 - 1770. The lock makers name "HARLAND A SALINS" engraved on both lock-plates. The gun-makers name Pierre Peyret engraved in gold on top of each barrel. The blued barrels also inlaid on top with some gold inlaid decoration including birds. Overall length of each pistol is 14 inches. The stocks with two very minor age cracks (please see photos). The barrels aprox 8.5 inches long. The pistols are both fitted with very fine silver mounts including pierced and worked side-plates, silver trigger guards, silver forend pipes and unusually fine silver butt-caps in the form of eagle's heads. The trigger guards and butt-caps both stamped with French silver assay marks. Very finely chequered grips. The side-plates appear to have been gilded at some time, otherwise the silver work is completely undamaged. Both actions are in good working order. A rare opportunity to buy a good authentic pair of high quality silver mounted French pistols from a well known maker. These pistols were made at exactly the right time in history to have been quite possibly used during the American Revolutionary Wars era. We bought them from a collector in the USA so it is more than likely that they were in the USA since that time. Very good condition. Ref 9279. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom.
