The brass cross-guard with gilt mounts embossed with a crown and sword. Original brass mounted metal scabbard. The pommel showing a globe of the world. The brass scabbard mounts embossed with the words "PAX AUT BELLUM". The blade etched with a lion and the original owners name "HERMANN MATTKE". Blade 29 inches. Manufactured by The Henderson Ames Co. Kalamazoo, Michigan, and engraved with their name to the forte. Grip still retaining its original wire bound leather grip binding. Believed to be an Odd-fellows sword. Overall length in scabbard 36 inches. Good condition. Ref 9699.
