    U.S. Navy 2nd Type MK 2, (Early Ka-Bar) Fighting Knife By Robeson Shuredge & Early U.S.N. Leather Scabbard. Sn 18125:8 - 18125:8

2nd type MK 2, Fighting Knives had a pommel secured by steel pin (see page 86 of ‘U.S Military Knives by Cole’). 1st types had a threaded nut at the pommel. This is an original 2nd type WW2 U.S. Navy MK 2 Fighting Knife made by Robeson Shuredge (this company is listed as a WW2 manufacturer of these knives on pages 86 & 87 of Cole’s book). The grip is constructed of the correct compressed leather washers with correct 2nd type steel pommel secured at the butt by steel pin. The hilt is clean and undamaged with just light service wear. It has a steel cross guard and a 6 ¾” steel bowie blade which has just light staining consistent with age. One side of the blade is stamped ‘USN Mark 2’ the reverse is signed by the WW2 manufacturer ‘Robeson Shuredge’. It is complete with its original early leather scabbard with belt loop and retaining strap (the female part of the press stud is absent). Later MK 2 examples had scabbards constructed of plastic and webbing (see page 88 of Cole’s book). The scabbard is serviceable but has areas of wear consistent with age and service use. The front of the scabbard is impressed ‘U.S.N’. at some point in its life the name ‘Levers’ has been lightly hand etched into the leather. The tip of the scabbard is holed for thigh cord. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 18125:8
