British 1907 Pattern Bayonet Regimentally Stamped To 6th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers, and Scabbard. Sn 14171 - 14171

This is a nice regimentally marked 1907 bayonet to the Royal Scots Fusiliers. The blade is stamped with a crown over "G.R. 1907 10 16" (October 1916) and the makers name "Sanderson". The other side carries the War Department 'Broad Arrow' and several inspection stamps. The pommel carries "6 R S F" and the number "8" which denotes bayonet number 8 from the 6th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers. The 6th (Service) battalion was formed in August 1914 at Ayr and after training they moved to France on 11/5/1915.. They were involved in the battles of Loos, Albert and Delville Wood and were finally absorbed in 02/7/1918 by the 18th Scottish Rifles. A nice regimentally marked bayonet to a Scottish Regiment which saw service in many of the important battles of the war. (see Skennerton's item B 235, pages - Phone number removed - .
