    ~ Shipwrights Axe 19th Century Pattern, Victorian ~


    A naval shipwrights axe with laminated handle for extra spring. There is wooden protection cap secured to the axe with a hemp string.

    The cast iron blade is stamped 'BRADES 382' and '2' underneath, with a Victorian crown above. It is also stamped 'Made In England'.

    The handle is curved and made from 7 layers of wood.

    ~ Dimensions ~

    The overall length of the axe is 33 inches (84 cm).

    The length of the metal part of the axe is 12.5 inches (31.8 cm).

    ~ Condition ~

    The axe is in good used condition. The metalwork it's a bit rusty. The woodwork is solid, obviously some wear and its a bit loose on the junction with the axe itself.

    ~ Postage ~

    Postage costs £18 or the axe can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
