Stunning antique facon gaucho knife, small measures collectible piece. Alpacca handle and seath with chiselled with gold filled flowers and small leaves. Seath sealed/markings: ALPACA ARGENTINA. Carbon steel blade with markings/sealed: SIMBRA INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA. Knife. These hunting daggers were used by Argentinian ‘gaucho’ cattle herders / cowboys. The 6 ½” single edged blade has staining consistent with age and it measures 11 ¼” overall length. The back edge of the blade has scalloped decoration. One side of the blade is crisply marked with the manufacturer’s name ‘Simbra’(Simbra Industria Argentina). The plated white metal handle has intricate writhen decoration and a void shield to one side. The dagger is complete with its original plated white metal scabbard with ornate belt bar. The scabbard has foliate, writhen decoration and ornate chape . The mouth of the scabbard is crisply marked ‘Industria Alpaca Argentina’.
