This is a very good original WW2 Japanese Officers Sword & scabbard. The sword has a fish skin handle bound with brown cord. It has its original copper and brass fittings and floral menuki. The tang is signed on both sides with Japanese script identifying the sword smith as 'TAKE HISA’, together with Autumn 1943 date. There is also a small ‘w’ inspector’s mark on one side of the tang (see Modern Japanese sword Smiths by Slough page 169 where a sword tang with identical markings to ours is illustrated). The hilt is fitted with push button scabbard retaining clip which works correctly. The pommel is holed for lanyard and has remnants of a wrist cord. The 26 ¼” blade has staining consistent with age. The cutting edge is sharp. It is carried in its original steel scabbard with single hanging ring. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 16095.
