The steel barrel retains traces of the original finish. The frizzen engraved to the rear with the makers name BORNIO. Francesco Bornio had a workshop in Barcelona Espana circa 1770-1775. Brass forend pipe, trigger guard and skull-crusher style butt-cap. In very good condition and working order. This pistol was made at exactly the right period in history to have possibly been carried during the American Revolutionary war 1775-1783, as well as during the French Revolution circa 1789-1799, and into the Napoleonic era 1799-1815. Overall length 14 inches. A superb example of a rare Spanish Military miquelet pistol. Ref 8686.
