Here we have a lovechild of a krag jorgenson and k98. It was made at the Springfield armory, serial number 950057 denoting manufacture in 1918.With a matching 1918 dated Springfield armory barrel.
The stock is the rare S type with finger groove with some dings but generally excellent condition.
The metal parts are of the early type and consistent with a gun made from this year. The parkerised finish is correct for a post ’17’ rifle. Also comes fitted with a rare foresight protector.
It has avoided being modified for the ill fated Pederson device.

American M1905 Springfield Rifle Bayonet with Canvas Scabbard & Frog.
The bayonet has a 16" single edged blade, generally fine with very old blood stains along the edge of the blade. It hasnt been parkerised which is correct for the date. It has a central fuller. The ricasso has "S.A. 1906" over the 'Flaming Grenade‘. On the reverse of the ricasso is "US 102867". It has a straight cross guard in blued steel which has a scabbard locking catch operated by a sprung thumb catch, this operates smoothly as it should. It has a blued steel pommel with a sprung catch inside the bezel which operates when the bayonet release catch is pressed. It has ribbed wood grips worn smooth with use, which are secured with one screw rivet. The early post 1910 type scabbard is khaki canvas over a wooden scabbard. It has a steel throat and metal catches to secure the bayonet. The canvas scabbard also incorporates a leather tip with a maker mark stamped onto it.

Arisaka 38 bayonet.
A fantastic condition early type bayonet with hooked quillon. Serial number being 45595. Manufacture at either Tokyo or Kokura, but difficult to tell as the same symbol was used for both manufacturers. The wooden grips, blade and scabbard in excellent condition for a bayonet of this age/type with much finish remaining. Plus , although not pictured a repro frog.
