This is a French M 1874 Grass bayonet with a T section blade which was suitable only for thrusting. The back edge of the blade carries the place of manufacture and date which is ST ETIENNE 1877. The bayonet has a brass pommel, wooden grips and a steel crossguard with a downswept quillon. The scabbard is black steel with no dents. The scabbard has in some point in its life been painted with cream painted bands which could be easily removed. See White and Watts number 201 on page 84 and 94. The price includes UK delivery.
