    WW2 NEW ZEALAND WAR DEPT MARKED, 1942, 'Lend Lease' Savage Stevens, Long Branch .303 Calibre No.4 MK I* Rifle And Sling. D 1504 / 16310 - D 1504 / 16310

This Firearm is deactivated to one of the pre- 2nd May 2017, UK specifications. As such it can only be sold and exported in its present state to customers in NON- EU countries including the Isle of Man and Channel Islands. Customers based in the UK & other EU countries can purchase on our lay-away scheme. The weapon will then be brought up to the EU specification and the relevant certificate obtained prior to the transfer of ownership and delivery. This is an excellent No 4 rifle deactivated to UK specification in 1991. In its present condition the rifle strips, cocks & dry fires. Please note, after the re-proof and deactivation process to the latest UK / EU specification the weapon’s bolt and trigger will move but the firing mechanism will be internally disconnected so it will not cock and dry fire & it will not be capable of stripping. These rifles were manufactured under the terms of the 'lend-lease' agreement during WW2. The MK I designation was changed to MK I* in 1942 after modifications to the bolt housing (see page 342 of The British Service Lee by Skennerton). The woodwork and metal work of this weapon are in excellent condition with just the bumps and bruises to be expected wioth age and service use The shoulder stock is deeply stamped with a New Zealand War Dept Stamp 'N arrow Z'. The left side of the breech is crisply stamped 'No 4 MK I* Long Branch (Stevens Savage, Long Branch) 1942' together with other markings which appear to read ‘Sarco Inc Stirling N’ (illustrated). The grip strap is stamped with a struck out number and number '18L0475'. It has an alloy butt plate with trap and is fitted with an original webbing sling. The price for this rifle with sought after New Zealand marking includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery. D 1504 / 16310
