Produced by the American Arms manufacturer Sturm Ruger the semi Automatic Ruger Mini-14 is a lightweight carbine which was favoured by U.S and British Law Enforcement agencies in the 1970's and 1980's. The AC-556 is a selective-fire version of the Mini-14 marketed for military and law enforcement use. The design incorporates a selector on the right/rear of the receiver to select either semi-automatic, 3-round burst, or full-automatic fire modes; the manual safety at the front of the trigger guard operates the same as a standard Mini-14. The front sight is winged and incorporates a bayonet lug. The barrel incorporates a flash suppressor, which can be used to launch approved tear-gas and smoke rifle grenades. Production of the AC-556 ceased in 1999. This example is in excellent condition. The carbine measures 39" overall and has an 19 ½” barrel with correct vented 'flash suppressor' at the muzzle. The left side of the frame is stamped with the Sturm Ruger Legend and address together with number '191-02337'. The top of the breech housing behind the rear sight is stamped 'Ruger AC-556 Cal.223'. The wood stock has no damage and is all original. The metal work is all original and is complete with vented heat shield, winged foresight, aperture rear sight, steel butt plate, correct safety catch, bayonet bar and fire select button, sling swivels, leather sling and box magazine.
