A Boxed GAT Vintage Air Pistol

    Price £99 plus £12 p&p

This is an ‘old stock’ original vintage GAT air pistol manufactured by T.J.Harrington & Sons, Walton, Surrey.

We have only had one of these air pistols before, which was in good condition. This is the second one that we have come across and the only one still in the original box complete with accessories.

This one has the original GAT and TJ Harrington & Sons, Walton, Surrey impressed stamp marks.

This company produced these GAT’s from around the mid 1930’s to the early 1990’s when TJ Harrington finally closed. This makes this airgun at least 25 years old. It could even be older. (Please see photos)

GAT’s were every boy’s first air pistol and were very popular as Christmas presents. They fired .177 pellets, small darts, BB and even corks if you had the adapter. They were mass produced so they were very basic and not very powerful. Waisted pellets were considered the best.

The air pistol is loaded by pushing the front of the barrel fully back until it locks. Push the safety lever on the side to ‘S’. Then unscrew the probe at the rear. Insert the pellet pushing it all the way down with the probe. Replace the probe and screw finger tight. Release the safety, then fire. Some people think that these pistols mechanically fire the pellet. (Inertia) Not so! Pushing the barrel back compresses air.

UK Postage £12. The reason for this being so expensive is because the only way we can post this type of item is with Royal Mail by their Express 48 service. This is the only company that will accept an air pistol through their system and their charge for this is £12.

A very nice piece of shooting history.

    Dimensions (approx):-
    Length uncocked 10½ inches (26.5cms)
    Length cocked 8¼ inches (20cms)
    Height 4 inches (10cms)
    Weight 22 ounces (632 grams)
    Width 1¼inches (2.5cms)

This item was previously advertised but removed because we got a strange buyer enquiry. It started with “Hi Dear.” Then went on to say “I own my own shipping company and you should don't bother yourself about the shipping, that's the best convenient for me to purchase.” They then continued to say “instruct my client to issue you the payment and the payment will be cashier cheque”. This message did not seem genuine and I was wary of a scam so I removed the advertisement.
