WW2 1942 Italian, Carcano M1891/41 Terni Arsenal (FAT42), 6.5mm Calibre Rifle. Sn 12177 - 12177

The Carcano M1891 rifle gave excellent service throughout the First Word War where Italy participated on the Allied side, fighting mainly against Austria. The reliability of the weapon convinced Fascist Italy to re commence manufacturing the Infantry rifle during WW2. The rifle was designated the Carcano M1891/41 Rifle. Aside from a more compact rear sight, standard non-progressive rifling, and a barrel slightly shorter than the older infantry rifle, the 1941 adaptation was little changed from the WW1 era weapon. The M1891/41 rifle was manufactured at the Terni Arsenal (aka Terni, FAT) and in Northern Italy and at the Armaguerra Cremona factory. This is an excellent original example of the M1891/41 Rifle. Its wood stock and metalwork are excellent and undamaged. It is equipped with original cleaning rod, sling swivels, bayonet lug, flip up rear sight, block and blade fore sight & steel butt plate. The breech is crisply marked 'FAT' (Terni) together with ‘42’ (1942) date. The breech is also stamped with inspection marks and '6.5mm' calibre detail. The breech and stock are stamped with matching numbers ‘T9775’ and ‘FAT1948’ roundel. It strips, cocks & dry fires as it should. Price includes deactivation certificate & UK delivery. Sn 12177
