An invasion scare in 1859 led to the creation of the Volunteer Force and huge enthusiasm for joining local Rifle Volunteer Corps (RVCs). This is an original Victorian Norfolk Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Dress Sword belt made of crimson Morocco leather with strips of silver lace & brass fittings. It has a two piece belt buckle with ornate shoulders. Circlet inscribed “Third Norfolk Rifle Volunteers Corps” and central ‘Castle’. It is complete with two crimson Morocco leather sword hanging straps decorated with silver lace. All leather and stitching of the scabbard, hangers and belt are clean and intact.
