A Brass barrelled trade pistol dating from the end of the 18th Century. As the name suggests these low cost and basic weapons were produced to supply traders for self protection in the colonies.

Barrel length: 7.75 inches
Muzzle diameter 0.6 inches
Barrel: - A swamped brass barrel. The breech marked with two proof marks crown over p (proof) crown over V (viewed) and a cartouche with TK for Thomas Ketland. The barrel has been over cleaned.
Lock: - A standard flat flintlock lock. Cleaned and signed but the signature is illegible due to wear and cleaning. Overall good condition.
Stock: - Walnut full stock. Like so many the stock has been split below the barrel. The muzzle end terminates in a steel plate which may have been an old field repair.
