An 1858 smoothbore Tower musket "For Native Use" . These have a very interesting story which can be read in brief here - https://www.mlagb.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/201402_mu sketsmoothbore.pdf This is a genuine Tower made example , lock dated 1856 - the vast majority of these we see are Indian copies . The lockplate is rather pitted but the internals are excellent , even showing much remaining colour hardening .The barrel is a little pitted at the breech but good for the rest of it's length . The lock works smoothly , with strong mainspring. There is a Pimlico roundel stamped into the butt and the wood is very good .Various arsenal and post partition registration marks. The rear sling swivel and ramrod are missing - if you want to replace them , I notice Peter Dyson currently has them in stock for £20 and £35 respectively . Very cheap example indeed for a genuine one of these - £275 Can be viewed / collected SW London , or posted UK for £20 . Thanks for looking !
