Description

VERY RARE, 1856 Dated British 1853 Pattern Enfield Tower .577 Calibre 2 Band Percussion Artillery Carbine With Mint 3 Groove Rifling. Sn 13239 - 13239

This pattern of Artillery Carbine were used by the British Military between 1853 into the 1870's. This is a very rare, original example of the British 1853 Pattern 2-band Percussion Rifle. The side plate is stamped With Queens Crown VR (Victoria Regina) and by the manufacturer 'Tower'. It is also dated '1856'. It has an excellent all original walnut stock impressed with 'WD' and arrow mark, brass butt plate, brass fore end block, bayonet bar and brass trigger guard with extended tang. The rifle has its original steel ramrod, block and blade fore sight, sling swivels and its original graduated 2 leaf rear sight. The barrel has a pristine bore with crisp 3 groove rifling and is stamped with Victorian proof marks. Total length is 40 ½” with a 23 ½” barrel. The firing action works perfectly. This is an antique percussion rifle and no licence is required to own it in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 13239
