This bayonet and scabbard was probably made in by Turkey rather than being German made as the quality is not up to German standards and has no manufacturers marks. However, the Turkish Toughra is stamped into the pommel and the top of the crossguard. It is the Toughra of Sultan Abdul Hamid II who was deposed on the 2th April 1909 which makes this bayonet a very rare and short lived version. It has a steel pommel with push button release which operates as it should., It has slab wood grips secured with two rivets. The crossguard has a hooked quillon. The blade is polished steel, with a single edge and fullered. It measures 10". The scabbard is steel and has an oval frog stud. This is the correct scabbard for the bayonet. (see White & Watts The Bayonet Book, item number 628 on pages 278 & 281). The price includes UK delivery. Sn 10880:60
