Description

Nazi German (Unattributed Alcoso Solingen Pattern) Army Officer's Dress Sword, Lion’s Head Pommel With Red Glass Eyes & Scabbard. Sn 17782 - 17782

This is a very good original WW2 period Nazi German Army Officer's Dress Sword. The sword has no visible makers marks but the hilt design is very similar in appearance to an unattributed pattern Alcoso Solingen example illustrated on page 68 of the book Swords Of Germany By Angolia. It has Nazi National Emblem ‘Eagle with outstretched wings & Swastika’ on the langet and a plain oval shield on the reverse langet. It has a flat knuckle bow and undamaged wire bound grip. The knuckle bow and ferrule are adorned with oak leaf decoration. It has a Lion’s head pommel with original red glass eyes, cast mane & stylised star along the grip strap. The sword measures 36 ½” overall and it has a 30 ½” single edged, curved, fullered blade. The blade near to the hilt, under the langets has Verdigris staining which may be hiding a manufacturer mark. The blade is fitted with original leather hilt washer. The sword is complete with its original black painted steel scabbard with single steel hanging ring and fixed strap bar. The scabbard has no dents. The Price includes UK delivery. Sn 17782
