~ Unique Broad Bladed 1827 Pattern Naval Officers Sword By Dudley Of Portsmouth ~
Here we have a strange and wonderful sword that I believe is potentially a one of a kind with a blade unlike any other I have ever seen on this pattern.
The blade is shorter, heavier and broader than any other Naval 1827 I have encountered and it appears that this is a purpose built fighting sword that can be dated to between 1827 and 1837 due to the presence of the kings crown on the guard.
This sword is a truly hefty piece with a shorter heavier blade, a lower centre of percussion it feels like it has been made similarly to a cutlass.
The sword was made by Dudley of Portsmouth and is warranted in his name.
The sword is lacking its scabbard.
~ Dimensions ~
The sword is 35 inches (89 cm) long.
The blade is 30 inches (76 cm) long.
The sword weighs 1.01 Kg
~ Condition ~
The sword is in good condition for its age with some wear and combat damage showing to the blade but generally a nice patina on the steel and lots of gilt still present on the guard.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £25 or it can inspected in our shop.
