Edwardian silver mounted malacca sword stick, believed to have belonged to Field Marshal Lord Roberts, Commander-in Chief of the British Army from 1901 to 1904. The only Field Marshal to be awarded the Victoria Cross. Died in 1914 was given a state funeral and buried in St Paul’s Cathedral. The malacca tapered shaft has a silver collar with his detailed portrait in relief and the words "Our Bobs God Bless Him". A silver rococo knob at the top of the stick with a push button release for the lozenge section blade. Hallmarks for Fredrick Narborough, Birmingham 1900. Measures 87cm long, with a 67 cm blade with some original bluing.
