A nice early Vetterli 2 band rifle with set triggers , or "Stutzer" (sharpshooter ). Manufactured by Eidgenössische Montier-Werstätte and incorporating the ingenious Schmidt set trigger mechanism. If you first pull the back trigger, then the lightest touch on the front trigger will set it off. Very good condition and working order with matching numbers and many clear markings , including crisp inspection stamp of Major Schmidt , dating the rifle to 1871 - 1874 . Early "diced " pattern chequering on forend , and original sling. Clean and solid overall , working faultlessly and absolute bargain at £595 .Would prefer viewing/collection SW London , but can post UK for £25 .
