Early WW2 Vichy French Military Youth Organisation Alloy Handled Dagger & Leather Sheath. Sn 12821. - 12821
These daggers were made in Vichy France 1940 / 1941 and issued to a Military Youth Organisation that was formed as part of the armistice agreement between Nazi Germany and the French Vichy Government (see page 19 of ‘A Photographic Primer Of Military Knives’ by Flook). The dagger has a cast alloy hilt with stippled panels, cross guard and pommel. It has a 5 ¾” single edged blade with small fuller to one side. The blade has staining and wear consistent with age and service use. It measures 10” overall. The dagger is complete with its original brown leather sheath which has an integral belt loop and retaining strap with eyelet that fastens to a brass stud on the body of the scabbard.
