Webley / Webley & Scott Mark II Service Air Rifles

    Air GunsAir RiflesUsed£ 1,650

A very rare boxed Webley Mark II Service Air Rifle in .22 calibre.

This rifle is a ‘4th Series’ model with serial number S11941 which is marked on the action with the same number on the barrel dating this particular rifles manufacture to between 1937-1939.

The stock has a retailers mark impressed into the right side namely ‘the AJAX Ilford & Romford’

This company were suppliers of shooting equipment including Air rifles from different manufacturers and routinely marked stocks with their name to advertise the business.

This rifle is in excellent overall condition and retains its original bluing with only very minor marks to the finish. We have not seen a better example.

The stamping’s are all sharp and legible.

It is complete with its correct rear, centre and front sights all of which function correctly.

The stock is in very good order featuring a pleasing grain.

There are no splits or cracks.

The horn butt pad is complete and undamaged.

It cocks and fires with no issues.

It comes with its very scarce original cardboard box which was supplied with these rifles by Webley when new and marked by the retailer with ‘Webley .22 95/-‘ on the edge of the box lid. It also has the calibre and serial number crayoned on the lid which was done in the Webley factory.

The box is in worn condition and fragile and has been repaired in the past nevertheless to have the original box complete with the crayoned serial number and calibre matching the rifle is a real bonus.

Included is a genuine ‘F E Morton’ booklet ‘Hints on Air Rifle Shooting’ dated September 1938, a sealed tin of ‘Webley .22 Special pellets and the rifles original hang tag (we’ve never seen one of these before) showing the rifles price of 95/-.

A excellent example of this iconic Webley Air Rifle with very rare period accessories makes this very collectable.

Air guns and Air Rifles manufactured after 1939 are restricted by the Violent Crime Reduction Act as regards sale and delivery and as such the transaction must be on a face to face basis.

They can be posted but ONLY to another Registered Firearms dealer....Read full description
