**RARE**ALL MATCHING NUMBERS**Period Transit Cased 1930's Webley Service 3rd Series MK II Air Rifle With 2 Correct Original Webley Barrels (.177 & .22 Calibres) & Accessories. Sn 18312 - 18312

This is a rare to find, cased, 1930’s 3rd Series Webley Service Mark II Air Rifle with 2 barrels ( .177, .22 Calibres). These rifles introduced C1935 had a modified centrally mounted flip up aperture rear sight, an improvement on the earlier Type 1 & Type 2 side mounted Webley Service sights (See Chapter 2 of Thrale's book Webley Air Rifles 1925-2005). The trigger guard of our rifle and all of the barrels have matching serial numbers ‘S 5539 / 5539’, each barrel has a blade foresight and are stamped with calibre detail. The left side of the cylinder is stamped 'WEBLEY SERVICE AIR RIFLE MK II". 'MANUFACTURED BY WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD, BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND and with the Webley 'winged pellet logo'. It has the Great Britain, USA, Spain, Germany and Canada 1925 patents stamped on the Right Side of the air chamber. It also has the correct patent Number '371548'. It has its original undamaged wood stock with chequered wrist & ribbed horn butt plate. It has the correct 3rd Series flip up aperture sight and shoots crisply. The rifle is contained in its period hard leather transit case with carry handle and flap with retaining strap, buckle and carry handle. The heavy duty case has a period ‘T&W Harrison Gunmaker’ marked label with indistinct hand written name and address and brass lock (key absent). The case contains a period, purpose made felt lined wooden tray. The tray has a brass ring to allow the tray to be pulled from the case. The tray has a leather retaining strap to secure the rifle in transit and clips to secure each of the barrels. The tray’s compartments contain 4 original Webley labelled tins which contain quantities of .177 & .22 lead Pellets. The tins bear the Webley name and calibre detail (2x.22 & 2x .177). The tray also contains its original illustrated pamphlet titled 'hints on air rifle shooting by F.E. Morton'. The pamphlet not only provides tips on shooting but also contains instructions and parts diagram.
