A rare Webley Mark 1 .22 calibre Air Rifle manufactured by Webley & Scott Birmingham & London from 1925 -1932.
This rifles serial number is 498 and is fairly early in a production run of approximately 1500 manufactured.
It has the stamping’s for Webley & Scott Birmingham and London so was obviously manufactured prior to the closure of the London office in the early 1930’s.
This rifle is in very good original condition and has mainly ‘electro etched’ patent and name marking which are visible although having faded over time.
The famous winged pellet trade mark is clearly visible on the left side of the breech block. ‘Webley Air Rifle Mark 1’ is etched on the left of the cylinder it is very faint however. On the right side of the cylinder are etched the patents which are visible although faded. The serial number 498 is stamped on the trigger block and the barrel pivot and underneath the trigger block ‘adjust’ and ‘pull’are stamped by the trigger adjustment screw. The calibre is stamped by the barrel cocking pivot ‘.22’ this calibre being rarer than .177. The rifle retains a good proportion of its original blueing as having its etchings still visible testifies.
The stock is in good condition with only a small historical crack to the under side and it is fitted with its correct metal butt plate.
It cocks and fires with no issues.
I very good example of one of the most collectable of Webley Air rifles we have seen a number of these in the past this is the best we’ve seen.
A great addition to any collection of Air Rifles....Read full description
