The Weihrauch name has been associated with solid build quality and reliability for many years. Weihrauch’s range of solid, accurate springers have always been a popular choice for airgunners. In 1979 three Director’s of the Hull Cartridge Company were each presented with a 9 carat gold plated HW air rifle by Hermann Weihrauch in recognition of their success in boosting UK sales of Weihrauch air guns in the UK. These presentation air rifles are illustrated and described as ‘sensational’ in an article titled ‘The Golden Gun’ in the August 1980 edition of Airgun World. The article describes the presentation trio as ‘unique’ and states that ‘most keen air gunners would pay a fortune’ for them. This is one of those 3 gold plated air rifles from the Ron Fowler collection who received this rifle direct from Hull Cartridge. The rifle in near mint condition has a 14 ½” barrel and measures 40” overall. It has original undamaged Walnut stock with figured cheek piece and rubber shoulder recoil pad. The metal work retains all of its original gold plating. It has a ramp blade fore sight & adjustable rear sight all also gold plated. The barrel block is marked with model and calibre detail (illustrated in image 2) and the barrel ‘Hull cartridge’. The rifle features the correct gold plated under lever and has an adjustable trigger. The rifle cocks loads and fires with a nice tight & powerful action.
