This is a scarce Lanchester S.M.G. (Sub Machine Gun) bayonet manufactured by Wilkinson during W.W.2 and it is recognisable from a standard 1907 pattern bayonet by the Wilkinson wartime code S294 together with W.S.C. (Wilkinson Sword Company) and 4 43 (April 1943, date of manufacture). The scabbard is the standard No1 mk II with a tear drop frog stud. See Skennerton, pates 230 – 231, item B281.
