Circa 1795, with round blued turn-off 1 3/8in. barrel, signed and engraved central hammer boxlock action with concealed trigger and walnut slab-sided butt.

The man who founded what was to become probably the largest single gunmaking firm in London until at, the very least, the final decades of the 18th Century was born of humble north-country yeoman stock late in 1702.
Richard Wilson was the son of Richard Wilson of Kirkby Steven, in the county of Westmorland, and his wife Hester, and was baptized in the church of St. Bottolph’s Aldgate, London, on 26 January 1703.
