This is an attractive, original Imperial German Cavalry Officer's dress sword in as found un-messed with condition. The sword has a heavy white metal brass guard ornately decorated with Oak leaves. The cross guard has langets, one decorated with cavalry crossed swords and lances device the other with shield which has a quality engraved monogram ‘FH’ (most likely the initials of the Officer who owned this sword). It has a Lion’s head pommel with glass eyes and the grip strap has Lion’s mane and void oval. It has an undamaged grooved polished horn grip with wire binding tight and intact. The sword measures 39 ¾” overall and its 34 ¾” single edged, curved blade with fullers is clean. There are no visible maker marks on the blade but they may be present under the langets. The sword is complete with its original black painted steel scabbard with steel hanging ring and fixed belt bar. The scabbard has no dents. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2191
