WW1 Era Imperial German Soldier’s Private Purchase ‘Garantie Feinstahl’ Hunting Dagger / Trench Fighting Knife With Stag Antler Grips & Pressed Steel DRGM Marked Scabbard With Engraved Hunting Scenes & Integral Swivelling Retaining Catch Marked ‘DRGM' sn 18617

This is an original WW1 era German Soldier’s Private Purchase Hunting Dagger / Trench Fighting Knife. A similar knife with scabbard which has the same retaining catch as our example is illustrated on page 9 of German Combat Knives 1914-1918 by Mery. The dagger is 8 ¾” overall with a 4” steel blade one side marked ‘Garantie Feinstahl’ (Guaranteed Fine Steel). The hilt has its original Stag antler scales secured by 2 rivets. It has a short finger guard It comes with its original pressed metal scabbard which has engraved hunting scenes on both sides. The scabbard has an integral swivelling retaining catch marked ‘DRGM over 633823’ (DRGM - Deutsches Reichs Gebrauchs Muster German quality assurance mark). The price includes UK delivery.
