~ WW1 Era Lee Metford MkIII Bayonet ~
Here we have an extremely well preserved Lee Metford MKIII bayonet, these bayonets were originally for the Lee Metford Rifle but by their MKIII iteration these were exclusively manufactured to fit the Lee Enfield.
The bayonet is a double edged dagger bayonet with wooden scales held in place by screws.
The scabbard is leather and finished with steel.
Te blade is marked with a crowned ‘49’ and a ‘W’, the blade was made by Wilkinson.
There appears to be some form of Indian script on the exposed tang, this may be a re issued bayonet.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade is 12 inches (30 cm) long.
The bayonet is 16.75 inches (42.5 cm) long.
The bayonet weighs 630g.
The bayonet is in good condition for its age.
