~ WW1 German 1916 Dated Mauser Gewehr 98 Butcher’s Bayonet ~
The bayonet is complete with its original steel scabbard.
The blade is stamped with the manufacturer’s name ‘STAHLBLUME’, its logo and ‘FRED SCHLEUTERMANN REMSCHEID-HASTEN’.
The edge of the ricasso is stamped with the manufacturing year ‘16’ beneath the crown and a proof mark. The double dot proof mark is present as well.
The guard bears the mark “RK”
The scabbard is made of black painted steel and is stamped with a pair of imperial proof-marks.
This is a rare, highly collectable piece.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade length is 14.45 inches (36.5 cm) and the overall length of the bayonet is 19½ inches (49.5 cm).
The bayonet in its scabbard length is 20½ inches (52 cm).
It weighs 875 grams.
~ Condition ~
The blade is in good condition with almost no rust.
The safety catch button works fine.
The grips are fine and remain undamaged.
The scabbard has surface rust and it will benefit a polish and repaint.
