~ WW1 German Artillery Officers Sabre #2 Sword ~

The sword’s decorated fittings are made of gilded brass and the grip is made of a wired black wood.

The pommel is shaped as a lion head with 'ruby' red glass eyes.

On the guard’s extension are embossed two crossed cannons, the motif for artillery.

The fullered slightly curved blade is decorated with beautiful flower etchings along its upper third.

The sword comes with its black painted metal scabbard fitted with two suspension rings and its original sword knot.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade length is 34 inches (86.3 cm) and the overall length of the sword is 40 inches (101.6 cm).

The sword in its scabbard length is 35.5 inches (90.2 cm).

It weighs 1.65 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The blade has the normal signs of darkening and minor wear. The edge is clean bar a couple of minuscule nicks. The fittings have started to darken but remain in otherwise excellent condition. One of the lion’s 'ruby' red glass eyes is missing.

The scabbard’s paint is slightly worn & scratched in places, and a few minor dents can be spotted.

~ Postage ~

UK postage is £20, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop....Read full description
