WW1 'Xmas 1918' Hallmarked Silver Presentation Cigarette Case To Capt. W.W. Halstead, RAMC of No. 21 Ambulance Train Complete With A Copy Of An Extract From The Medical Register For 1917 & 1956 And An Extract From The Royal Army Medical Corps. Sn 10694 - 10694

A WW1 'Xmas 1918' hallmarked silver presentation cigarette case to Capt. W.W. Halstead, Royal Army Medical Corp's of No. 21 Ambulance Train together with paperwork. Ambulance trains were used in France to utilise the rail network to move casualties quickly and they were also able to be treated on the train. The interiors of rolling stock were stripped and disinfected then fitted out with rows of beds. The cigarette case is hallmarked to 'Birmingham 1917/19'. On the front it is engraved with the Royal Army Medical Corps Crest and "To Capt. W.W. Halstead From The Staff of No 21 Ambulance Train Xmas 1918". Inside both the top and bottom are hallmarked. The case opens by pressing a push button on the side, the lid springs open as it should. On the inside of the lid small lines can be seen where the lid has been stamped with the crest. The lid and base has minor user dents due to normal usage. The case comes with an extract from 'The Medical Register 1917 & 1956 showing 'William Wilfred Halstead'. Also there is an extract from the 'Royal Army Medical Corps' records again with Halstead listed. The cigarette case measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" and weighs 75 grams. The price includes UK delivery.
