**This Firearm is deactivated to one of the pre- 2nd May 2017, UK specifications. We can arrange for this firearm to be brought up to the latest UK/EU specification (customers can purchase on our lay-away scheme. The weapon will then be brought up to the EU specification and the relevant certificate obtained prior to the transfer of ownership and delivery)**The MG 42 (Maschinengewehr 42, or Machine Gun 42) general purpose machine gun was used extensively by the German Army & Axis forces in WW2. This excellent WW2 example hasn't been refinished or Russian captured, and doesn't have any post war Yugoslav parts fitted. It is correctly marked with the makers code "dfb" - Gustloff-Werke, Suhl and waffenant. The initials "MU" were only used for one year 1944. That year Gustloff only made an estimated 65,000 MG42's. It is serial number 6148 which is stamped on the frame and wood stock which is undamaged. The serial number is also correct and is a very early one from that years production figures. The earliest recorded serial number from 1944 is 4091c. This one is 6148c that puts it around number 2,057th of that year. Its Bakelite ribbed grips are undamaged. It comes with an excellent original Nazi German WW2 marked leather sling. The sling has maker code & date of 'bla’ & 1943' with '159' coded waffenamt stamp to leather. There is also an '892' coded waffenamt to metal buckle. The weapon also has a partial ammo belt fitted with a quantity of inert deactivated ammunition. Deactivated to UK specification in 2003 the weapon’s trigger moves and its breech cover lifts and locks in place as it should. The price for this superb piece includes deactivation certificate & UK delivery. Sn 18783:15
