~ WW2 Era 1936-37 Zeppelin Officers Cap Badge With Bullion Backing ~
Here we have something incredibly rare and unique, an original badge and bullion backing belonging to the short lived Zeppelin Unit, these badges were worn by people of the Kapitan rank or above.
This badge is one of the rarest finds in Nazi memorabilia as it was such a short lived project and position.
The badge is a stylised Reich Luftwaffe Eagle astride a globe with a zeppelin over and a swastika underneath.
The back of the badge is marked ‘SH BER’, ‘300’, ‘GAHR MUNCHEN’ and an ‘85’.
The badge is felt backing has been stitched with a wreath of gold bullion that has aged but still shows its lustre. On the rear of that there is a fabric cover to prevent the gold wire wearing out the cap.
The badge is attached to the bullion backing by three folding pins pushed through the fabric badge.
Overall this is a wonderful addition to any aviation or Third Reich collection and would easily be the crowning glory in many.
