A good United States Army Air Forces Summer flying helmet made from dark khaki cotton with black rubber leather wrapped earphones, wool padding on the inside of the earphones and leather buckled chin strap with wool chin pad. Manufacturer's tag with embroidered silver lettering sewn in back inside of helmet (see page 248 of Vintage Flying Helmets by Mick J. Prodger’ for similar. The ear-cups are in good order and a pair of ‘R-14’ receivers present, the loom is in good order, and a ‘PL-54’ jack plug is fitted. The internal ear pads are in excellent order. The badge sewn into the interior reads ‘TYPE A-9 DWG. No 42 G 6861 A.C. ORDER No. 42-19385-P PROPERTY AIR FORCES U.S. ARMY LARGE’. The stitching is in very good condition. The leather, buckles and chin strap are very clean and tidy. The helmet comes with display head as shown in the pictures. The price includes UK delivery. 20979.
