~ A 1927 Pattern Royal Navy Officer's Dress Sword and Scabbard ~
The sword has a straight single-edge fullered blade and is serial numbered on the edge ‘3288’,
The blade is etched with scrolling arabesques on both sides.
One side bears the manufacturer’s name ‘J. Friedeberg, Portsea’ and the fouled anchor beneath the crown, whilst on the other the proof star and the British coat of Arms can be seen.
The solid gilded hilt is decorated with fouled anchor and King’s Crown.
The grip is made of wire-bound shagreen with a lion shaped pommel.
It comes with its gold braid bullion knot.
The scabbard is made of black leather with suspension rings, brass locket middle band and shoe.

The overall length of the blade 31.5 inches (80 cm) long and the overall length of the sword is 37.79 inches (96 cm).
The overall length of the sword in its scabbard is 38.18 inches (97 cm).
The sword weighs 1.3 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in excellent condition with minimum wear.
The blade is clean with minor usage and minor darkening.
The basket has a few nicks on the edges and the hinged lock of the hilt is slightly bent.
The scabbard overall condition is good. The leather has minimum wear for its age and the fittings remain undamaged with minimum loss of gilt.
