WW1 1917 Dated British 1907 Pattern Bayonet By Wilkinson Regiment Marked '2 HAMP' To 2nd Battalion Royal Hampshire Regiment & WD Marked Scabbard. Sn 9829

The Royal Hampshire Regiment was a British Army line Infantry Regiment from 1881 to 1992. It's lineage is continued today by the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment. In World War 1 the Regiment took part in the Battle of Gallipoli when engaged in the fatal Landing at Cape Helles. In the 1920s The 2nd Battalion was sent to Ireland to combat the Irish Republican Army. In WW2 the 2nd Battalion were evacuated from Dunkirk. The Battalion managed to carry away 100% of their small-arms, mortars and anti-tank rifles and as a result were congratulated by the Minister for War, Anthony Eden. They later returned to fight in Europe & Africa. This is an excellent original WW1 dated 1907 Pattern bayonet by Wilkinson marked to the 2nd Battalion, Royal Hampshire Regiment. It has a clean blade marked at the ricasso with Crown 'GR' (George Regina), 1907 (Pattern) and dated '9 17' (Sept 1917). The reverse is stamped with inspection marks. It's wood grips are undamaged and the pommel is stamped '2 HAMP' to 2nd Battalion Royal Hampshire Regiment together with weapon number '599'. It is complete with original leather scabbard with steel locket and chape. The leather of the scabbard is stamped with an Enfield 'EFD' inspection mark and War Dept arrow. Price for this nicely marked bayone includes UK delivery. Sn 9829
