Circa 1803-1815. The lock plate engraved with a crown & "GR TOWER". The barrel marked with an Irish registration mark DL4972 (this is the mark for Donegal) and 23 L.D. for 23rd Light Dragoons. Brass trigger guard engraved A over 6. Standard military pattern sideplate, brass butt-cap and ramrod pipe. Calibre approx .73 cal. Action in good working order. This type of heavy calibre flintlock officer's pistol were made by several different gun-makers in the British gun trade during the later part of the 18th century and during the beginning of the 19th century, however this is one that was actually made at the Tower Armouries in London. Complete with a wooden ramrod. Length approx 15 inches. Some very minor damage to the wood around the bottom of the lockplate, dings and bruising to the wooden stock, reasonable wear and some pitting to the metalwork, otherwise in good well used condition.
