This is an excellent B.S.A. ‘A’ Series .177 Calibre Underlever Air Rifle. These rifles were a follow on from ‘L’ Series Light/ Ladies Patern. Production of the ‘A’ series began on 7th may 1936 and ran until 1939 (see page 27 of Hiller's book The Collector's Guide To Air Rifles). It has all original wood and metal work with ribbed butt and concealed trap. It measures 39 ½” overall with a 17” barrel. It has a blade foresight and adjustable rear sight. The neck of the wood stock has the correct chequered panels with raised 'BSA’ motif. The weapon has the early production 'A' prefix serial number 'A1169' which dates it to 1936.
