Description

~ Cold War Indian 2A1 Jungle Carbine dated 1968 ~

The Rifle 7.62mm 2A/2A1 is a 7.62×51mm NATO calibre bolt-action rifle adopted as a reserve arm by the Indian Armed Forces in 1963. The rifle is a variant of the Lee–Enfield rifle. The design of the rifle – initially the Rifle 7.62mm 2A – began at the Rifle Factory Ishapore of the Ordnance Factories Board in India, soon after the Sino-Indian War of 1962. Several 2A1 Rifles were converted into carbines similar to the British No. 5 Jungle Carbine.

This particular rifle was made in 1968 at the Rifle Factory Ishapore and has the serial number 2056.

*Condition*

The rifle is in very good condition. The wooden furniture is very clean and retains its original finish. The metalwork is free from any rust or pitting. The bolt moves smoothly and the trigger moves under spring pressure. The safety functions and the magazine can be removed.
